THE SILVA FAMILY

On March 31st, 2020 our beautiful mother passed away due to Covid - she never received a proper funeral service and nobody had the opportunity to say goodbye to her.

My brother and I wish to bring my mother’s ashes to Mexico to reunite with my late grandmother to give them both a proper religious family burial.

Nominating Organization: Make the Road New York

My brother, Eduardo Silva and I both left Mexico City about 26 years ago, a very difficult decision both my parents had to make. Like many immigrant families, my parents thought coming to Brooklyn, NY was the best decision. My brother was only 4 years old and I was 5 years old when we left Mexico. Eduardo and I both have DACA but have been unable to visit our family in Mexico since we left. Eduardo and I were too small to remember anything about our beautiful country and only lived through the beautiful memories our parents shared with us.

On March 31st, 2020, our beautiful mother passed away due to covid and due to heightened travel restrictions and health regulations my mother’s body was cremated. My mother never received a proper funeral service and nobody had the opportunity to say goodbye to my beautiful mother. Our family in Mexico was extremely devastated as she was absolutely beloved by so many and she had to die alone in a hospital.

Now my grandmother, my mother’s mother, died unexpectedly and my brother and I wish to bring my mother’s ashes to Mexico to reunite with my late grandmother to give them both a proper religious family burial.

With the unfortunate news of my grandmother’s passing, we are asking for your support so are able to return to Mexico after 26 years to honor these two beautiful beloved women.

Estimated Flight Cost: $2,200
